Virtual Creative Writing Basics Class
This Creative Writing course is designed for writers who wish to engage in writing for art and personal expression. In this course, students will learn about the foundational parts of writing, such as creating character, building plot, enhancing description, and much more. Writers will be given weekly prompts and will have an opportunity to share their work and to receive feedback from others. No previous creative writing experience is necessary. Open to both beginning and advanced writers. Open to high school students and adult learners.

This is not a grammar course, and students should have an understanding of English language and usage. This course is for creative writing development. Writers can share their current projects or rely on the exercises in this course as an opportunity to create something brand new!

Joanna Grisham (most folx call her “Joey”) grew up in a small town east of Nashville, where she spent a lot of time playing make-believe with her imaginary friends. She has degrees in Communication from Vol-State Community College and Austin Peay State University (APSU), as well as an M.A. in English from APSU, and an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Georgia College & State University. Joey writes mostly fiction and creative nonfiction, but she dabbles in poetry and screenwriting. Her work has appeared in "Construction Literary Magazine", "30 Poets, 30 Poems: A Clarksville Anthology", "Mayday Magazine", "Reunion: The Dallas Review", and "Trop". Joey teaches part-time, so she can stay home with her two-year-old. She still spends a lot of time playing make-believe.
