Beginning Guitar: This 8-week course is designed for the complete beginner or novice guitarist. The fundamentals of guitar technique will be covered as well as fundamentals of music. Also, Instructor Spuzzillo may touch on elements of sheet music, however he generally uses a mix of standard notation/tablature (a system unique to fretted instruments) and chord charts/other visual aids. Students will focus on developing a practice routine and reading music.

Instructor Spuzzillo gives his students basic tools for guitar so that they can continue playing on their own after the class is finished.

Materials needed: An acoustic guitar is required. A footstool or a strap will be required. Any acoustic guitar is acceptable for this course, barring abnormal circumstances. Strings must be nylon or steel. The instructor will provide all the music and text.

Instructor Tyler Spuzzillo is a current graduate student at Austin Peay State University in Music Education.
